Food—a language spoken by all

Hi! I’m Zack, a full-time law student, recipe developer, and home cook in Minneapolis. I started Cooking Convos to highlight how we are all connected through food.

I graduated from Iowa State University with a journalism and culinary science degree. During my undergrad career, I was the editor-in-chief of a student-run food publication and copy-edited food content for Better Homes and Gardens and Magnolia Journal.

This blog has been a long time coming. I started this journey during the pandemic to teach myself how to cook. I started posting my creations to my food-focused Instagram, where I gained over 1,000 followers in less than a year. I slowly scaled back my food content to focus on my degree and my food-related work.

Okay, so now you’re probably wondering what “Cooking Convos” means—

I wanted to create a space to talk about all things food. Whether it is a recipe I developed, a restaurant recommendation or trip itinerary, a written piece about my relationship with food, or an interview with someone about the intersection of culture and cuisine. I want this space to be a hub for you to partake in the universal language of food and spark more conversations with those around you.

Food brings us together. It nourishes us. It keeps us going. If you have nothing to discuss with someone, you can always talk about food. From there, the conversations are endless.

So, welcome to Cooking Convos. I am so excited to have you a part of the conversation.
